Stuart and Briony are one of my interstate couples dealt the task of planning their McLaren Vale Wedding from interstate. Stuart is a serving member of the Navy, often away for long periods. Throw in a move from one side of Australia to the other, mid planning, and you can begin to imagine the job at hand. Thank goodness for skype and emails, as this is how we liaised until the week before the big day. Stuart and Briony are a laid back pair who trusted in family and friends to help pull their day together. Both decided to prepare in McLaren Vale at local holiday rentals that were literally just around the corner from one another. At the girls, we were on watch in the event that the boys drove by and spotted the bride-to-be. Woodstock Winery was chosen as the location for both their Ceremony and Reception. I arrived to the acoustic tunes of ‘All About Her’ and guests mingling about. Briony and her entourage made their way to the Ceremony in a fleet of vehicles headed by her Dad’s beloved MG. The Father of the Bride had double duties that began with driving his daughter to her Wedding and finished by walking her down the aisle. Stuart beamed as he saw his soon to be ‘Wife’ enter. Their gathering of family and friends from near and far witnessed their heartfelt, and often commical, union officiated by friend Hannah Dendy. After signing the certificate, these two were annouced as husband and wife. They were showered in congratulations that even included a surprise scrum from some of Briony’s friends. The formality of family photos followed, before we took the Bridal Party for some time away. The threat of rain kept us close to a canopy line of trees, but enabled us to utilise the symbolic vines for their photos. It wasn’t long before it was time to enter the Reception and officially start this party. With the formalities of the evening ahead, I left these newlyweds to celebrate their first evening as Mr & Mrs.
